Here’s a brief for the WalletConnect Pay story. This is going to be a huge topic that we will be pushing actively for the next 6 months. You are one of the first people to have a first-hand knowledge about it and we rely strongly on your contribution to explain the WalletConnect Pay, WCT, and potential to the community.

Raise awareness of WalletConnect Pay and position WalletConnect as the go-to protocol for anyone that wants to pay with crypto anywhere.

WalletConnect Pay:
Payments are fragmented by geography and rail. Latin America runs on PIX and Mercado Pago, Europe on SEPA and cards, Southeast Asia on QR wallets like GrabPay and GCash, China on Alipay and WeChat Pay, Africa on mobile money. Each region invented its own system, none of them interoperate, and merchants and PSPs are forced to support whatever their local stack dictates. Users adapt to the rail in front of them rather than the method they prefer.
We believe that in five years you can walk into any store or checkout anywhere in the world and pay with your crypto wallet, no matter whether the merchant shows a QR code, a POS terminal, or an online button. The merchant does not integrate crypto. The PSP does not change its stack. The user does not think about chains, networks or tokens. You authorise the payment and it just works.
WalletConnect Pay is the layer that makes this possible. It translates a crypto-initiated payment into whatever rail the merchant or PSP already uses, removing regional and technical fragmentation so crypto can function as a universal way to pay.
